Marian E. Koshland (1921-1997) graduated from Vassar in 1942, going on to earn her doctorate in immunology from University of Chicago in 1949. In 1945 Koshland worked as a researcher on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In 1949 Koshland moved to Boston for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Bacteriology at Harvard Medical School.
